Tools: Tape measure, carpenter’s pencil, circular saw (with a fine-tooth blade), notched trowel, and a rubber mallet.
Following a logical sequence is critical for a long-lasting installation. Always work from the bottom of the staircase upwards.
Remove all old floor coverings (carpet, old wood, etc.). The subfloor must be solid, clean, and perfectly level. Any unevenness (>2mm) should be addressed with a self-leveling compound.
Pro Tip: Never assume all steps are the same size. Measure each step individually. Cut your treads and risers to fit, and perform a "dry-fit" (placing the pieces without glue) to ensure every joint is airtight.
Apply the adhesive to the subfloor using a W-pattern or a notched trowel to ensure even coverage. Install the riser first, followed by the tread. Press firmly and use a rubber mallet to ensure full contact with the adhesive.
